Rinith,

You have done exceptionally well since I have started working here. We have achieved significant milestones in last 5 years and you have played pivotal role in most of them. You're quick learner, sincere, hardworking and dependable which are very good qualities for an IT professional. I am absolutely confident that you will do well under the new leader. I will miss you all after June.
Best of luck

Umesh

There are some magical numbers in life to bestow upon and I surely consider completing another gracious milestone of  7 Years as RA Employee
I can keep writing this on-and-on, but let me pause and appreciate some good things that did happen:
  • Great Learning – I have said this to a number of my colleagues. The learning experience that I get just by being inside RA is a zillion!!! I learn from every single conversation that happen here. Connection with Microsoft at all innovative levels (GP, SharePoint, Cloud computing, HyperV, SQL Consolidation), other infrastructure support vendors AvePoint, Symantec, McAfee, VMWare,  Websense, Citrix, and so on, is so much fun. I don’t have words to express the same.
  • Great people and friends – I think this is the best of the best part. I have made exceptionally great friends in this journey of completing 7 years. Many inside the company with the interactions, and multiples of them outside the company too. Some of ex-colleagues still in constant touch with me across the globe.
  • Passion with mix-Community – IT community is endless which keeps on crawling ever since past 17 years of my entry to IT domain and is still going strong. I had also opportunities to share my tech expertise to other communities outside the company.
  • New Challenges everyday – It sometimes comes down to what I am doing new to keep my interest levels on the high. You will be surprised that, it is not the routine job functions that keep me busy but the new challenges to try and do something new for self and for the best interest of business continuity and projects in the sessions is what makes every day drive to the office exciting. It is not always that you get to do what you love, but find opportunity to explore and do your bit to learn what you love the most.
So, thank you once again for being an exemplary supervisor which I believe is the strongest pillar behind an employee’s success.

Dears,
I would like to take this opportunity to talk about a great milestone here at RA today. Today, I complete 6 years of my journey at the RA. 2 years of a journey filled with stories of struggles from pillar-to-post, and thereafter success, fights, fun and joy with greater IT professionals of different calibres. This journey is made even more memorable because of the larger effort that each one of you put in here at work. I take pride in THANKING each and every one of you here for the continual support given to me. With the advent of this milestone in my life and with RA, I intend to extend myself as a ‘sailor’ and further dig & explore all the possible hidden treasures in me… neither boasting nor going more philosophical.. so, thank you all once again for the candy-coated smiles.

Once in a Blue Moon in August

ventej Full MoonThe term Blue Moon refers to the second full moon in a single calendar month. The first full moon was on 2nd Aug 2012 The second full moon will occur tomorrow the Friday, 31st Aug 2012, a rare spectrum happening once in 3 years. Doesn't mean the moon is blue it would be the normal FULL MOON.

However, as per NASA's email alert I received earlier this morning I thought of writing it down here what I knew. It could be either Blue Full Moon or the normal lighter red Full Moon which occurs only once in a blue moon.

With the caveat in mind, A True Blue-Moon can happen with a rare disaster. As a catastrophic result of forest fire or volcanic eruption which could throw plumes of smoke where the atmosphere could get more aerosols which scatters blue light can cause the Moon turn blue..   sounds absurd? This also can happen once in a blue moon, indeed..!

As a matter of scientific fact; the SKY remains blue and the RED BALL 'sun' spurns from yellow to red - The pattern of color spectrum and its scattering wavelengths forms so.
red spectrum.
During sunrise and sunset Blue and associated spectrum of colors are scattered by the molecules in the atmosphere more than the visible red light which has a wavelength (lambda) of 650 nanometer.

So the lambda of colors and the aerosol scattering affect makes the natural formation of scenery..! its all about, 'once in a Blue Moon' twin sister of 'Harvest Moon' or the 'Wine Moon' AND cousins of 'Wolf Moon, 'Snow Moon', 'Worm Moon', 'Pink Moon', 'Flower Moon',  'Strawberry Moon', 'Buck Moon', 'Sturgeon Moon', 'Hunters Moon', 'Beaver Moon' and 'Cold Moon'.

Send me the pictures whoever grabs the best FULL MOON. Good Luck..!

battles are lost, technologies never lose

The Apple iphone monopoly and blame game will prevail as long as legacy and patent remains. However think tanks should not forget - to achieve a greater technology revolution, monopoly syndrome should be eradicated.
Of late, I heard the news Samsung Electronics shares tumbling day-by-day, wiping $12bn off the South Korean giant's market value, as Apple Inc's sweeping legal victory in their US patent battle. A US jury found Samsung had copied critical features of the hugely popular iPhone and iPad and awarded Apple $1.05bn in damages in the most closely watched patent trial in years.
When you share the knowledge more inventions creep up rapidly. Apple had themselves got some of their ideas for their GUI from Xerox. So neither Apple nor Macintosh were the first to create Graphic User Interfaces with a desktop style. All companies use ideas from other companies and try to develop them and bring out their own variations. That is not necessarily stealing. This is how technology advances and inventions bloom.
By and large, i-phone customers and global community has already accepted to adapt new technology no matter it be Apple i-phone or Samsung phablet. As a layman, what's wrong if I get a Samsung product with better, stable and more reliable feature with a cheaper and branded price?

live on NASA TV today scheduled to touch down inside a vast, ancient impact crater on Sunday at 10:31 pm Pacific time (1101 IST on Monday 6th Aug 2012). The 1 ton Rover will make an unprecedented Mars landing withstanding 1600 deg temp., friction will slow the capsule from its interplanetary cruising speed of 13,200 miles [21,200 kilometers] an hour to 1,050 miles (1,700 kilometers) an hour, according to NASA and finally a supersonic parachute will precisely land the rover to a stop at the identified spot.
The rover will operate for 687 Earth days (one Martian year), gathering information on climate, geology and to plan for a human mission to the planet.

WOW!!! Your brain develops the negative

This is interesting..... Though an interesting piece of information forwarded to me, I didn't want to breach the information security aspect by forwarding to all my address chain and make an eye opener for the spammers. So, sharing it here.
This glimpse just takes a few minutes.
Read the instructions..

click this negative print to enlarge
Instructions
1. Stare at the red dot on this Indian Actress - Deepika Padukone's nose for approx. 40 seconds.
2. Turn your eyes to a plain surface (blank wall, or white surface).
3. Blink repeatedly and quickly. See the color transformation.
as understood, what you should see is a full color representation of the image as your focal point of retina and brain processes the negative image.  Our visual system is constantly processing input and can fool us or create illusions from retinal or cortical processes.  This illusion example is called a negative afterimage that is caused by adaptation of the photo receptors in the retina.  Forcing one's eyes to fixate on a point (in this case the dot on Deepika Padukone nose) reduces the normal jitter or micro jerks that constantly occur as we scan things in our visual world.  The micro saccades normally cause images to "dance" over the surface of the eye eliminating the possibility of too much adaptation if an image remains static over one group of photo receptors for too long.  In fact, if one was to eliminate all movement of the eye, and we were to fixate on a single point, our perception of our visual world would fade away.  So, what happens in this illusion is that when we look from the first image to the grey space or to a large plain surface, the photoreceptors that become adapted no longer signal effectively, but the photoreceptors surrounding the adapted photoreceptors strongly signal perhaps signaling opponent cells in the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) involved in color vision.

What Akshaya Patra does in BENGALURU (Bangalore)

The kitchen from the outside
A three-storey building (in Bangalore, India) which uses Gravity Flow Mechanism developed in-house by our team. Each kitchen has the capacity to cook between 50,000 to 100,000 mid-day meals per day. Costing approximately 9 crores to set up, they are built with funds from public donations.
The kitchen from the inside, consisting of rice cauldrons each of which cooks up to 110kg of rice in 20 minutes. Sambar cauldrons cook up to 1200 litres of sambar in two hours.
It is washed thoroughly on the 2nd floor

Washed rice is sent down the chute to the 1st floor
Rice pours down into steam heated cauldrons for cooking. The entire cooking process takes place on the 1st floor
Super heated steam is used to cook food instead of flame.

When cooking is finished, it is loaded into trolleys
Cooked rice is sent down the chute to the ground floor
It flows down the pipe into containers
